An opportunity has arisen within our client's Joint Community Safety Department for a Safeguarding Officer based at their Headquarters in Sheffield.

Salary: Grade 7 £28,221 - £30,756

Contract: Fixed Term (12 months)

Hours: Full time - 37 hours per week

Work Pattern: Flexi time

Location: Headquarters, Sheffield

The essential function of the role is to ensure that our client has arrangements in place to identify, respond to and support people who are being abused or neglected.

Key elements of this role are the development, implementation and review of policy and procedures to safeguard children, young people and adults at risk of abuse or neglect and to ensure that the organisation is compliant with statutory, national and local requirements.

To be considered for this role you will hold a recognised professional qualification in health, social care, education or equivalent in a relevant field. You will have post qualification experience, which includes knowledge and skills relating to Safeguarding children, young people and adults at risk. You will also have experience of policy development, and in the design, implementation and delivery of training programmes.

You must possess the ability to analyse information, monitor trends and identify appropriate actions in response and must be able to plan, prioritise and organise to achieve results against set targets and timescales. You must also possess persuasiveness and motivational skills in relation to initiating action amongst groups of employees and outside agencies.

The key duties will include; being a key member of a team providing community safety support in the service, undertake project work in all aspects of Safeguarding children, young people and adults at risk as required. To manage and monitor all cases where concerns are raised about the abuse of a child or an adult at risk, adhering to the statutory and local referral pathways to the relevant services and establish strategic representation and mechanisms for reporting to and communicating with the Local Safeguarding Children Boards, Safeguarding Adult Partnership Boards and their subgroups. In addition to consider the links to other Local Authority structures e.g. Health & Wellbeing Board, Community Safety Partnership, MAPPA and MARAC.
