Group Facilitator

Job Title: Group Facilitator (1-1 and Online Group support)

Salary Grade: £17,907 – £19,579 per annum, pro rata, based on a 37.5 hours full time
Responsible to: Service Manager
No. of Hours: 18 hours per week
Base: Ware and Waltham Cross – East Herts. (Due to the Pandemic, the organisation is moving towards working within Wellbeing Centres again. They are providing limited, socially distanced support to clients in their centres, as a consequence of the Covid-19 Pandemic and continue to follow Government Guidelines)

Background to the Post

Our client, a mental health charity, is rapidly expanding. The Group Facilitator will be an integral part of the team and play a key role in supporting and developing a range of supportive groups across the organisation.

Purpose of Post

To support people in a group setting, in a personalised way. This includes being empathic, warm, accepting, authentic and compassionate. You will:

  • Provide a mix of 1-1 group support and Online support, to establish a supportive and respectful relationship with people.
  • Consider each person as an individual.
  • Empower people to believe change is possible.
  • Provide support to people in order for them to regain and maintain control over their lives.
  • Inspire hope.
  • Support people to identify their own achievable and realistic goals.
  • Using Solution Focused techniques, develop coping, self-help and self-management skills within sessions.
  • Support people to identify and overcome fears, within a positive relationship.
  • Support people to access services that enable them to participate in local community activities and maintain their independence.
  • About you:
  • Clean Driving Licence and use of own car (essential)
  • Knowledge and experience of working with people with mental health conditions
  • Knowledge and experience of recognising Safeguarding issues
  • Excellent understanding of group dynamics and experience of facilitating groups
  • Working with people to develop the group services they use
  • Awareness of issues in mental health service provision
  • Ability to deal with stressful and difficult situations in a calm manner
