This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and skilled fundraiser to take an active role in developing and the implementing a new fundraising strategy and team at this federation of charities mobilising practical community action on poverty and the environment across the UK.

This charity supports thousands of local communities in need each year. They help people gain confidence and skills, overcome significant challenges such as poverty, isolation, low skills and poor health. They help people get into training and work, protect and improve green spaces, lead more active lives, building stronger communities.

This new post will be key to developing and managing the fundraising team, systems and processes. Your work will complement the work of the established corporate partnership function, growing unrestricted fundraising income more broadly for them.

The role’s purpose is to maximise voluntary income and mutual value from a range of enduring partnerships, in addition to developing new fundraising steams, through the cultivation of charitable trusts, major donors, digital ecommerce and mass fundraising campaigns. A successful candidate will need to demonstrate extensive experience within at least 2 of these disciplines. They will be a member of the operational management team and report directly to a member of the senior leadership team.

The post holder would have the pleasure of working with a passionate, dedicated and capable wider team, with a fantastic team spirit. There is a high level of commitment to developing this new area of income generation from senior management and trustees providing the post holder with the opportunity to excel and meet strategic targets. They are in the process of implementing Raiser’s Edge, so experience of using this or a similar CRM system would be valuable.

What is expected of you in your first six months?

  • To work with senior stakeholders and colleagues to develop and implement a new fundraising strategy with an initial focus on increasing income from corporate partnerships.
  • Develop priority prospect lists across channels, and engagement strategies for those prospects, and begin to meet or engage those prospects, with a focus on driving income.
  • Develop a 12-month plan for fundraising communications and mass products.
  • Meet and develop relationships with internal teams, fundraisers in other parts of their federation, programme staff and trustees.
  • Become fluent in the projects/initiatives and passionate about the cause, able to articulate the need with compelling stories/cases for support.

Their aspiration is to grow unrestricted fundraising income to £1M over the next 5 years. Their target for the first full year of income in the region of £250k.
