Salary: £21,255.00 - £22,818.00 Pro Rata

Hours: Part Time 0.5 FTE, 18.75 hours per week
This is a great opportunity to join an exciting major project, the Celtic Rainforests LIFE project, which is aimed at restoring Wales’ ancient oakwoods.
These valuable woodlands and the rich variety of lower plants they support are under threat from invasive species like rhododendron, and also from a historic lack of management. You will join a small team which spans three partner organisations: the RSPB, the Eryri National Park Authority and the Woodland trust. The Finance and Admin officer (south) will be responsible for financial and administrative duties relating to the of the southern half of the Celtic Rainforests LIFE project.
What's the role about?
- General administration of the southern part of the project e.g. preparing letters, collating timesheets for the RSPB, minuting meetings etc as required
- Work with the project manager (south) on financial reporting: maintain the project related financial databases and other spreadsheets with high accuracy, produce financial reports and claims promptly for funders, quarterly financial reporting to the project board, other internal reporting etc
- Provide administrative support for the Project Manager southern and other project officers
- Maintain the RSPB Celtic Rainforest LIFE paper and electronic filing systems including updating the project documents
- Process invoices, Purchase Orders, and other paperwork, and ensure prompt payments are made to suppliers.
- Assist the project manager (south) in monitoring project budgets and projected expenditure, through project specific documentation.
- Maintain a robust and accurate audit trail of expenditure, ensuring that all documentation is maintained in accordance with LIFE guidelines.
- Ensure that LIFE and RSPB guidelines are followed in all aspects of work.
- Administrative support for workshops and seminars, eg hiring a meeting place, arranging appropriate equipment, organising refreshments etc
- Assist with organising community engagement and volunteering events, schools, agricultural shows, including attendance at some events.
Essential skills, knowledge, and experience:
- Five GCSEs (or equivalent) to include Maths and English.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (especially Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Knowledge of document management and team collaboration tools.
- Knowledge of budget management terminology and processes.
- Proactive approach to problem solving.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences whether by phone, email or in person.
- Able to organise meetings and events and coordinate all aspects of the meeting or event logistics.
- Able to make the best use of time particularly when under pressure from competing priorities
- Prioritising tasks effectively, during periods of both low and high demand.
- Experience of working in an office or customer care environment in an administrative role
- Ability to work on own initiative and remain motivated whilst working from home
Desirable skills, knowledge and experience:
- Interest in and some knowledge of conservation and the natural world.
- Financial analysis skills, and experience of working with complex budget information.
- Experience of working with the public, ideally including volunteers.
