Director of Services (Deputy CEO)

Hours: 37 Hours Per Week (Full Time)
Salary: £62,500 - £67,266 Salary dependent on skills, experience and knowledge
Contract: Permanent
Base: Oxford office with travel to other sites as required (Flexible working options available: hybrid working, compressed hours & flexitime)

What will you do?

Working closely with the Senior Management Team, Service Managers, Trustees, and a range of external partners you will oversee the management of a designated portfolio of services, and develop innovative and user focussed, high quality services which promote and value empowerment, recovery, equity and diversity.

This is an important role in our organisation which will share responsibility of providing effective and inspirational leadership and managing the development and strategic direction in line with the strategic plan, and Oxfordshire Mind’s policies and procedures.

Key responsibilities

Service Delivery

  • Oversee the effective delivery of high quality services that meet designated requirements and achieve set targets, and be the main escalation point for major service delivery issues.
  • To increase Oxfordshire Mind and Mind in Berkshire’s professional profile, influencing and determining the strategic and operational direction of wider mental health services, which give improved outcomes for Service Users through the development and maintenance of positive relationships with commissioners and other prospective funders/stakeholders.Lead and facilitate contract negotiations with external vendors, suppliers, clients, or partners.
  • Utilise excellent communication, persuasive negotiation tactics, and a deep understanding of contractual terms to secure agreements that align with the organisation's goals and interests.
  • To ensure that the principles of service user involvement and lived experience are embedded in a meaningful way in all aspects of service development and delivery.
  • Be a strong advocate for the mental health needs of our service users and communities, articulating and leading on organisational vision and strategic aims; including our Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Equality Strategy.

Leadership

  • Lead, line manage, coach and develop direct reports through supervision, appraisals and performance management to optimise their effectiveness and fulfil their potential and deliver results in support of the strategic and operational plan.
  • Develop and encourage a culture of continuous improvement and innovation across all services, with clear objectives.
  • Provide effective and inspirational leadership for staff and volunteers.

Deputy CEO

  • Deputise for CEO, work with and support SMT and Board sub-committees, and attend board meetings/interact with the board on an as needed basis.
  • Work closely with the CEO and SMT to ensure alignment and coordination across all business functions.
  • Be Designated Safeguarding Lead and Senior Information Risk Owner.
  • Ensure the effective oversight and delivery of organisations policies and procedures, maintaining an open and supportive culture of practice.
  • Assist in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and overall financial management of the organisation.
  • To work proactively with national Mind and other local Minds, ensuring continued compliance with the Mind Quality Mark, adhering to the requirements of the Mind Federation Agreement and learning from the collective experience of the network.
