Our client is a leading voluntary sector agency providing high quality services to improve the health and wellbeing of local people.

Community Health Development Worker – TLF
Salary starting at £22,183 pa (NJC Scale Points 12 – 17)
37 hours per week
This role is fixed term for 5 months from May to September 2021.It may be necessary to work flexible hours (including occasional weekends and evenings).

Background to the post

The aim of the TLF service is to reduce the unequal impact of COVID-19 on BAME communities and prevent hunger. Since the start of the pandemic, our client has been working with the residents of Leeds and key community, voluntary and statutory sector organisations. They have established a food distribution and emotional support service with over 275,000 meals distributed in 11 months. The organisation has secured funding in the form of a short-term emergency grant to develop this work until September 2021.

Purpose of the role

The primary purpose of this post is to continue to deliver and further develop the work of TLF working co-productively with BAME communities. TLF is supporting communities to build their resilience to the challenges ahead as the pandemic evolves. This will involve distribution of food and providing support and onward signposting when appropriate to prevent dependency on services. TLF will aim to work to reduce the inequalities of COVID 19 on BAME communities and will work with key partner organisations to do this.

The job holder(s) is expected to work using the principles of asset-based community development with new and existing service users, groups and agencies to co-produce this service. This post will work closely with the Mentally Healthy Leeds and Better Together Team to improve the mental health and general well-being of people in Leeds through involvement and participation in a range of health improvement activities.
