Salary: £21,622.00 - £23,987.00 Per Annum
Benefits: Pension, Life Assurance and Annual Leave
Terms / Duration: Permanent, full-time (37.5 hours working 5 days out of 7)

You will need to be available to work during the day (occasional evenings), and weekend and Bank Holiday working will be essential.

About the role

We are looking to appoint an Assistant Catering Manager to join our inspirational organisation. The role will assist with developing, improving, and in the absence of the Catering Manager, managing the provision of a high-quality catering service that is efficient and effective that meets the agreed high standards and within budget, as directed by the Catering Manager.

What we need from you


Assisting the Catering Manager in the following areas:

  • Experience in delivering the highest standard of customer care.
  • Experience in achieving financial targets and Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to deliver against catering goals
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to ensure all catering administration, operating processes, security, food hygiene, and health and safety adheres to RSPB procedures.
  • Ability to manage and respond to customer needs and feedback.
  • Ability in ensuring that all catering staff and volunteers are recruited trained and managed in accordance with RSPB guidelines and policy results in efficient team working.
  • Ability to plan and deliver an efficient day-to-day running of the café.
  • Ability to deputise for the Catering Manager when required


  • A natural leader who can influence, motivate and inspire people at all levels.
  • Ability to manage and respond to customer needs and feedback.
  • Successful experience of leading and managing a diverse team.
  • Proven track record of managing a successful catering operation.
