Data Privacy Manager

As one of the largest occupational charities in the UK, our client offer help and advice to current, former and retired Civil Servants across the UK.

They are looking for a Data Privacy Manager to drive compliance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and ensure continued compliance going forward.

Contract: Permanent
Hours: Full time
Salary: c. £35k pa
Location: Cheam, Surrey

You will act as the Charity’s contact point for the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) on issues relating to the processing of personal data, liaising with the ICO on the Charity’s behalf and leading the response to any investigation or request for information.

You will also act as the Charity’s contract manager, ensuring that the Charity has contracts in place with all its significant suppliers and that these are reviewed on a regular basis.

Key Skills required for the role:

• Experience in a similar role including managing data incidents and data breaches;
• Knowledge of data protection requirements in the UK and willingness to become an expert in GDPR;
• Ability to communicate effectively (both written and oral) at all levels in the Charity including with Directors and Trustees;
• Ability to act independently with integrity and exercise professional judgement;
• Ability to deal with confidential and sensitive data and information;
• Willingness to obtain recognised Privacy Qualification;
• A charity background useful but not essential.
