Casual Senior Support Worker

Our client is looking for a reliable and motivated person to join their professional team as a Senior Support Worker (Communicator Guide) in the Wiltshire area, on a casual basis, within a community setting.

  • Title: Senior Support Worker
  • Reference number: 42631
  • Hours: Casual (Bank)
  • Location: Wiltshire
  • Contract type: Casual
  • Salary: £8.81 per hour

Communicator Guides offer support to people who have developed sight and hearing impairments, often as they get older; you will support the individual to do the things they want to do - not to do things for them. You’ll be there to act as the eyes and ears of the individual – to make sure that communication is clear and that they are able to move around safely.

About the role

The support you provide may be in someone’s home, their local community or work setting.

Communicator Guides offer guiding skills, practical help and communication support to people with acquired deafblindness – such as helping with shopping, dealing with mail, accessing social and leisure activities – to enable people with sensory loss to continue to live as independently as possible and decrease isolation.

You must be able to work flexible hours to suit the service requirements and have the ability to work on your own initiative.

A full UK driving licence and use of your own vehicle is an essential requirement for this role.

About you

They would like to hear from you if you have experience of working with vulnerable people, and ideally have experience of working with people with a sensory impairment.

A willingness to develop your skills in all communication methods is an essential part of this role. You will need to be able to creatively solve problems that may arise using a person-centred approach and ideally have experience of using person-centred planning tools.

You must be enthusiastic, adaptable and friendly with a commitment to ensuring the individual you work with get the best out of their lives.

The ideal candidate will hold, or be willing to work towards, a Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care or equivalent.

About the organisation

Our client is a national disability charity that supports people with complex communication needs to be understood, connected and valued.

They have a proven record of offering high quality, pioneering services.

Working as a Support Worker here can be incredibly rewarding; they offer the opportunity to work in a large, diverse and successful charity where people can develop their skills, knowledge and careers in a supportive and flexible environment.

In addition, they have excellent training and development, the opportunity for you to join their Group Personal Pension scheme and a generous annual leave entitlement.
